Klamath Falls, OR Waterfalls - Fisher Nicholson Realty

Klamath Falls is a poetic-sounding name, but it also aptly describes the surrounding area. Our real estate agents know that convenient access to these stunning locations is one of the benefits of Klamath Falls homes for sale.

  • Plaikni Falls - Crater Lake National Park
Opened to the public in 2011, Plaikni Falls is one of the newer trails in Crater Lake National Park. As home to the deepest lake in the country, it's no surprise that the park is also the site of scenic waterfalls. The remote area creates a peaceful ambiance, but the short hike makes this outing a good choice for families with kids and people with limited mobility. Crater Lake National Park is open 24/7 and the $30 per car admission fee is good for seven days.

  • Toketee Falls - Umpqua National Forest
What makes Toketee Falls one of the best-known waterfalls in Oregon? This spectacular two-tiered cascade, named for a Chinook term meaning "graceful," is so picture-perfect that it could have been constructed on a movie set. While the falls reach a height of just over 110 feet, there's actually a third tier up above that isn't visible from the viewpoints. Leashed dogs are welcome on the trail, which is easy enough to accommodate hikers of any abilities. Toketee Falls is located in Umpqua National Forest and no entrance fees are required.

  • Duwee Falls - Crater Lake National Park
As the largest of the three main waterfalls in Crater Lake National Park, Duwee Falls is also the most popular. Once again, this waterfall merits a wonderfully descriptive name. "Duwee" is adapted from the Klamath term "ti-wi," which was intended to replicate the sound of rushing water. Rather than falling in a straightforward descent, Duwee Falls begins with a 15-foot drop, followed by a 40-foot drop that splits into a pair of 25-foot cascades. While the falls are officially located inside Crater Lake National Park, most visitors agree that the best views are from a turnoff along Highway 62 near Mazama Village.

  • Watson Falls - Umpqua National Forest
Is bigger always better? At a gargantuan 294 feet in length, Watson Falls certainly makes that case. The third-tallest waterfall in Oregon offers two equally amazing viewpoints along the one-mile loop trail that's great for families, including their leashed four-legged members. The lower viewpoint is reached by crossing a small wooden bridge across Watson Creek, while the upper viewpoint is a little further up the trail. A lush profusion of trees, moss, and ferns adds to the picturesque effect. Enjoy a leisurely picnic at one of the tables just off the trailhead.

  • Clearwater Falls - Umpqua National Forest
While it may not fit the conventional image of cascading water, Clearwater Falls is one of the hidden gems in the area surrounding Klamath Falls. The total descent is just shy of 30 feet, but the unique appearance of this waterfall makes it well worth the visit. Unlike most waterfalls that are created by rivers and streams, Clearwater Falls is spring-fed, giving the illusion that water is emanating from the ground in several locations. The flow isn't powerful enough to push obstructions out of the way, resulting in a visually appealing arrangement of moss-covered rocks and logs that makes Clearwater Falls a favorite subject for photographers.
