You know the best thing about 2021? That it's almost over! Well, to be fair, you did get a new house! So between those two things, there is a lot to celebrate. And our real estate agents have a few suggestions about how to ring out the old year and welcome in the new.
- Bring the club home
If you miss the glitz and excitement of dancing at a nightclub, then you can re-create the atmosphere with music and lighting in your new home. Arrange the furniture to allow room for dancing, and be sure there are plenty of hors d'oeuvres. Imagine your guests arriving in sparkling gowns and tuxedoes, or, if you prefer, in boots, jeans, and cowboy hats. Once you determine the theme of your party, share it with your guests in detailed invitations.
Carry out the theme both in decorations and music. Add some magic by dimming the lights and using a rotating light projector to create a starry night sky. Whether you have a few special guests or a fairly large gathering, make the evening special with a countdown to midnight and champagne all around. Be sure to offer a non-alcoholic option for those who prefer not to drink.
- Make it a slumber party
It's been a rough year, and not everyone can afford a night on the town and a babysitter. Make it easy on your friends and family by hosting a family party. Parents and children will all enjoy a night of games, snacks, and flannel pajamas. You'll need plenty of space for sleeping bags, and extra pillows are always welcomed. Provide party hats and noisemakers for everyone. Glow stick bracelets are a great way to add to the ambiance, and small children love them. Keeping the snacks family-friendly is an easy and inexpensive way to provide party food. Popcorn, celery sticks with peanut butter, and carrot sticks are so much tastier at someone else's house, so don't hesitate to offer simple fare.
Most young children won't make it until midnight, but they don't have to miss the big event. There's no reason why they can't have their moment of cheer with sparkling cider or ginger ale at a designated hour before bedtime. This lets Mom and Dad enjoy a midnight kiss and a glass of champagne while little ones are safely sleeping in the next room. Remember that they will wake up hungry, so be prepared to cook mountains of pancakes in the morning.
- Have a family celebration
Many of us are uncomfortable these days even with small gatherings and prefer to stick close to family. That doesn't have to mean canceling New Year's Eve celebrations. Consider making the evening special by gathering for a family game night or movie marathon. You can have a family circus night with a feast of corn dogs, bags of popcorn, and other fair food. The dollar stores are full of kazoos, party hats, streamers, and glowsticks to help convert your house into a magical party venue. Conveniently enough for families, the ball drop in Times Square at midnight Eastern is televised at 8:59 PM in Klamath Falls, just in time for bed. Want to teach your children some New Year's Eve traditions? Instead of a ball drop, release a large helium balloon and watch it dance on the ceiling as you sing Auld Lang Syne. Explain food customs or any other traditions your family follows.
If you haven't yet found your new home, there are still Klamath Falls homes for sale. Please contact us to help you find one.
