Kitchen Pantry Organization - Fisher Nicholson Realty

Once you've searched through the Klamath Falls homes for sale and found the perfect property for your family, it's time to get to work on optimizing the space. Since your kitchen is one of the most-used rooms in the house, a well-organized pantry will do wonders. Here are a few tips that our real estate agents have put together on how to get it organized:

  • Start with a Pantry Reset
The first thing you'll want to do is start with a clean slate. Take every single item out of your pantry and set it aside. This will allow you to wipe down the interior and install any shelves or drawers (which we'll discuss in more detail later) that will help you optimize the space.

  • Remove or Replace Items
There's a good chance that several items in your pantry are expired and will need to be either thrown out or replaced. In many cases, you can simply discard them without getting a replacement because you're obviously not using the items. You can also eliminate any duplicate spices that you don't use too often.

  • Go Shopping for New Items
Make an inventory list of everything in your pantry, along with a "wish list" of items that you'll need to make it complete. Then, make a run to the grocery store and purchase any missing items. If you're missing quite a few spices, you may want to purchase a brand new spice rack to kick things off.

  • Divide Items into Categories
You'll want to divide your kitchen pantry into categories along with the items themselves. As the saying goes, "A place for everything and everything in its place." If you'll be shopping for new items, it may be best to hold off on assigning categories to the pantry until you know exactly how much room you'll need for each category.

  • Invest in Clear Containers
Picking up a bunch of clear containers will not only allow for easy organization, but they look pretty great too. They're perfect for all sorts of items, such as flour, sugar, nuts, grains, etc., and are well-sealed to retain freshness. Feel free to mix plastic containers and glass jars to separate the items further.

  • Don't Forget About the Door
If you don't have a lot of room in your kitchen pantry or simply want to store more items, you should consider utilizing the door. Some full-sized hanging organizers can fit dozens of items, and they're perfect for oils, condiments, etc. This will help you free up some space on shelves and make stocking up a lot easier.

  • Use Old-School Turntables
Whether you love lazy susans or not, the truth is that they come in very handy. You can fill them with all sorts of items, and their ability to rotate provides you with easier access. Sure, they may be a little out-of-date for putting on your kitchen table, but they're perfect when tucked away in the pantry.

  • Take Advantage of All Space
Many homeowners make the mistake of not using the pantry space to its full advantage. If you have a lot of empty space, figure out how to fill it. This can often be done by simply adding more shelves or putting in a few pull-out drawers. You can also find space-saving items online that will help you optimize the space.

Follow these tips, and your kitchen pantry will look amazing and be more organized than ever before. Fisher Nicholson can help you get organized after you find your dream home in Klamath Falls. Contact us today, and we'll get started.
