Fall Decorating - Sell a Home - Fisher Nicholson Realty

Fall is such a beautiful season. From the colorful leaves to the crisp, cool air, autumn feels like a time of reflection and new beginnings. If you're selling your home this fall, consider using fall's relaxing vibes to stage your home and appeal to buyers. Here are some ways our real estate agents recommend incorporating fall decor into your home staging plan.

  • Add Mums to the Garden Beds
Flower beds can start looking a bit drab in the fall. Make sure you keep your clear of fallen leaves by raking them often. Then, add a pop of color by setting out a few potted mums. The orange, yellow, and red colors of mums are perfect for fall and will draw eyes away from any brown or dormant plants. Leaving the mums in pots saves you the hassle of planting.

  • Emphasize Coziness
Put some cute throw blankets on the couch. Prop a fuzzy pillow in the recliner. Consider adding some extra throw pillows and blankets to your bed, too. This will make the bedrooms and living room feel cozy and warm, which will really draw buyers in on a chilly day.

  • Incorporate Subtle Fragrances
You don't want to use too many strong scents when staging a home since some people are sensitive to them. However, there are some mild fall scents that you can incorporate gently. Look for a mildly scented apple air freshener. Or, light a pumpkin candle for an hour or two before the open house. You want your home to smell subtly like fall without making anyone's eyes water.

  • Make a Fall Centerpiece
Create a cute, autumn-themed centerpiece for the dining room table. Start by placing a canvas placemat in the middle of the table. Top it with a couple of pumpkins or gourds, a few dried leaves, and perhaps a fall-themed mug or two. You could create a similar centerpiece for the coffee table or end table in your living room.

  • Use Autumn-Colored Tiebacks
Replacing all of the window treatments in your home with fall-colored ones is quite an investment. It's more affordable to add a pop of color to your window treatments with new tie-backs. Choose a color that says "fall" but also coordinates with your window treatments. For example, if you have cream-colored drapes, you could tie them back with orange or red tiebacks. Keeping the drapes open also lets more light into the home, which is important in the fall.

  • Display Vases of Fall Leaves
Autumn's other name literally comes from the fact that leaves fall off the trees during this season. So, nothing looks more timely than fall leaves! Look for a tall, cream-colored vase. Collect a couple of small branches with the fall leaves still in place, and stick them in the vase. Add a little water to the vase. This will keep the branch moist enough that the leaves won't fall off so soon.

  • Call Attention to the Fireplace
Homebuyers will be pleased to see a fireplace in your home in the fall. So, call as much attention to it as you can. Add some more decorations to the mantel. Stack more logs to the side of the fireplace. You may even want to re-paint the mantel if it's starting to chip.

Klamath Falls homes for sale get a lot of attention from buyers when they are tidy, nicely staged, and decorated for the season. Rely on the tips above to stage your home, and don't hesitate to contact us if you're looking for a local real estate agent.
