Kitchen Updates - Homeowners - Fisher Nicholson Realty

Your new home is a dream come true. It's everything you've ever wanted. It's only lacking in one area: the kitchen. The kitchen design and layout are fine, but looking at various Klamath Falls homes for sale, and the cutting-edge appliances they have, makes you wish you had more up-to-date technology in yours. Here are a few changes you can make to improve your kitchen.

  • Cooking Range
If your cooking range needs updating, consider going for induction instead gas. Induction stoves run on electricity, so no gas emissions, and they're much more effective and efficient than traditional ranges. Not only do they get hot immediately and cook evenly, they're more precise, allowing you to set a specific temperature for heating. If you cook a lot, you'll want an induction range installed. If you don't use the stove as much, or only cook for yourself, a portable induction cooktop will do just as well.

  • Oven
There are several upgrades you might consider. Speed ovens run on electricity but get hot immediately. They can be used either as a microwave or a convection oven that cooks your food in half the time. Some even have built-in air fryer capabilities as well. Meanwhile, a steam oven eschews gas and electricity in favor of water. By converting water to steam, they can cook your food more gently and keep it from drying out—while also cooking more quickly than a traditional convection oven.

  • Dishwasher
Some dishes always seem to run out faster than others. The dishwasher is only half full of plates and bowls, but every knife in the house is dirty. Do you start the dishwasher with only a half load (which wastes water) or wash your knives by hand (which wastes water and is a pain in the neck)? Neither. You invest in dishwasher drawers. Popular in Europe, instead of one big dishwasher, you have multiple smaller ones stacked on top of one another. Each one can be started individually and clean a small load, using a fraction of the water and electricity. You can do a quick load when you run out of one type of dish, or simply run it after every meal, to keep your dishes clean throughout the day.

  • Refrigerator
Even if there's nothing inherently wrong with the refrigerator you have, it's still possible to do better. Upgrading to a smart refrigerator provides many advantages. It lets you keep an inventory of your food, automatically adding items to your shopping list when you run out of them. That list can then sync to your smartphone, so you always know what you have and what you need. Or, you can program it to order certain items automatically online when they run out. Many smart refrigerators also have cameras that let you look in without opening them, eliminating the energy waste of standing with the door open deciding what to eat.

With a few minor upgrades, your outdated kitchen can join the 21st century and improve your cooking game by leaps and bounds. Our real estate agents can help you find homes that already have some of these updated appliances installed.
