Not only does it work your whole body, but it also allows you to enjoy the fresh air and views of snow-covered fields and trees. Our real estate agents know the Klamath Falls area well, and it's home to several wonderful trails to consider skiing this winter.
- Big Mac Nordic Trail: Summit Sno Park, Highway 140, Klamath Falls, OR 97601
Big Mac Trail is a great option for newer skiers. It's only 1.4 miles long but offers lovely views of the Cascade Mountains. You can park in the 50-car Summit Sno Park lot off Highway 140. This trail does not allow motorized vehicles. It intersects several other ski trails in the Summit Sno Park, so you can make it part of a longer trek if desired.
- Billie Creek Loop Nordic Trail: Summit Sno Park, Highway 140, Klamath Falls, OR 97601
If you're looking for a longer trail to tackle, try the Billie Creek Loop Nordic Trail. At 5.6 miles, it will give you a great workout. It's also a loop, so you won't have to worry about choosing a turn-around point. This is one of the more popular trails in the Summit Sno-Park, so expect to pass plenty of other skiers. Visitors often spot mountain chickadees and hermit warblers in the trees.
- Family Loop Nordic Trail: Lake of the Woods, 950 Harriman Route, Klamath Falls, OR 97601
If you're skiing with youngsters, you might want to try the Family Loop Trail at Lake of the Woods. This is a 2.0-mile ski trail that is wide and nicely groomed. You can take the whole loop, or the bypass and cut it in approximately half. Signage is very clear, making it easy to stay on-trail.
- Sunset Nordic Trail: Lake of the Woods, 950 Harriman Route, Klamath Falls, OR 97601
If you spend the day looking at Klamath Falls homes for sale and want to take a quick ski on your way home, try the Sunset Nordic Trail at Lake of the Woods. It's only 1 mile long but offers some gorgeous views and is always well maintained. You'll be surrounded by lush pine forests for most of the experience.
- Glasgow's Loop: Brown Mountain Shelter, Klamath Falls, OR 97601
Glasgow's Loop is a 4.1-mile trail that starts and ends at the Brown Mountain Shelter, just south of Lake of the Woods and north of the Pederson Sno-Park. The shelter is the perfect place to sip hot chocolate as you prepare for your trek. This trail weaves through thick forests with many old-growth Douglas firs and cedars. Most of the trail is wide, allowing snowshoers to stay off the ski tracks.
- Pacific Crest: Pederson Sno-Park, Klamath Falls, OR 97601
Not far from Glasgow's Loop is another beautiful ski trail called Pacific Crest. You can pick it up at the Pederson Sno-Park or Brown Mountain Shelter. It runs about 1.8 miles from point to point. Some parts of the trail run through open clearings, but for the most part, you'll be in dense pine forests. This trail is stunning after a snowfall and is not as well traveled as most in the area.
