- Varney Creek Trail to Lake Como - Winema National Forest, off of Forest Road 3664, Klamath Falls, OR 97601
Varney Creek Trail to Lake Como is easy to find and follow, with wildflowers along the way to create colorful scenic views. Be prepared for you and your pup to get a workout since the just over 9.5-mile trail can be a challenge. The entire route is expected to take almost 4.5 hours, but since it's an out-and-back trail, you can easily choose how much time you'd like to spend traversing it. You'll cross two creeks along the way, so allow some time for your dog to cool off.
- Link River Trail - Klamath Falls, OR 97601
For a relatively easy walk, take your dog to Link River Trail. The flat out-and-back trail usually takes about 50 minutes to complete, and it's unshaded, so make sure your pup doesn't get overheated. The trail is gravel and makes its way along the Link River, where you'll likely see plenty of birds and possibly other wildlife.
- Hogback Mountain - from the Foothills Fellowship Christian parking lot, 6200 Church Hill Dr., Klamath Falls, OR 97603
The 3.4-mile Hogback Mountain trail is an out-and-back route that's easily accessible. You and your dog will be in for a good cardio workout since the trail climbs relatively quickly in elevation, particularly during the first half-mile. Keep your eyes open for bald eagles and other birds, wildflowers, and deer along the way. Views at the top are impressive and encompass 360 degrees, and some fellow hikers recommend trekking poles to use on the way down. The hike is rated as moderately challenging, but some hikers have found it a bit more difficult on the way down.
- Lower Klamath Basin Trail - Moore Park, 740 Lakeshore Dr., Klamath Falls, OR 97601
The Lower Klamath Basin Trail, located in Moore Park, is considered to be moderately challenging due to small changes in elevation, but hikers who left online reviews found it fairly easy. The trail makes a loop of just over 2 miles and takes you and your dog just over an hour to complete as you see the lake, wildflowers, and other scenery. Watch for birds, deer, and other wildlife along the way.
- Aspen Butte Trail - Winema National Forest, Klamath Falls, OR 97601
You and your dog will be a little off the beaten path at Aspen Butte Trail, which lacks a marked trail. You'll start to the right of the road facing the mountain to hike about 1.5 miles to the summit of Aspen Butte.
