Highlighting Storage Space - Sell a Home - Fisher Nicholson Realty

One of the most important things in any home is storage space. Whether it's for tools, linens, spices, or just odds and ends you want out of the way, it's important to know where the storage space is in your home and how best to utilize it. That's why spotlighting those storage areas can be a big selling point when you're showing your house to potential buyers. Our real estate agents can help you find creative ways to show off the storage space in your home. Here are a few tips.

  • Containers. Containers can turn any area of the house into a storage area. Make sure they're good quality plastic containers that will look nice to potential buyers, and place them conveniently and aesthetically, rather than simply stacking boxes in a corner. Putting a couple of plastic containers into one or two of your closets or other storage areas will highlight how the space can be used efficiently.

  • Organizers. There are different types of organizers for different rooms of the house. Closet organizers can help you keep clothes in order, allowing you to store more in a smaller space while providing easy access. A cabinet organizer can do the same for your kitchen, keeping pots and pans, leftover containers, cans and jars compact and accessible. Placing these organizers in your major storage areas will show how much can be kept in a smaller space.

  • Shelves. There are plenty of things that can be stored on shelves besides books. If your home has built-in shelving, think about what you can put on those shelves to highlight their storage potential. Shelves in the kitchen can provide easy access to plates and glasses or keep commonly used ingredients within reach. Shelves in the living room are a great space for photos and knickknacks. Shelves in the bedroom provide a space to put your phone and other devices while charging. There are all sorts of possibilities.

  • Hooks. Nearly as versatile as shelves are hooks. In the kitchen, a bank of mounted hooks can hang pots and pans, coffee mugs, or measuring cups and spoons, putting them right at your fingertips when needed. In other rooms, they can be used for everything from jackets to keys. You can also hang electrical cords on them for your various appliances to keep them out of the way so they don't get accidentally pulled out or tripped over. A few well-placed hooks throughout your home can show off a variety of storage options.

  • Tension Rod. If you keep cleaning supplies in the cabinet below your sink, it can get crowded quickly. You could remove them all before you show the house, but if you want to spotlight your storage space, install a tension rod instead. Spray bottles can then be hung from it, leaving room below for scrubbers and other supplies, essentially doubling the cabinet's storage capacity.

  • Pegboard. This is a great option for the garage, toolshed, or craft room. A pegboard can be customized with as many hooks as you need, in whatever positions you need, to store tools and other supplies for easy access. Mount it on a wood panel, allowing space behind it to add hooks.

Spotlighting storage space is just one of the ways that Klamath Falls homes for sale can be made to look more attractive to potential buyers. If you're looking to sell your home, we can help you put it in the best light and get you the best price. Contact us to get started!
