Scenic Snowshoe Adventures Klamath Falls | Fisher Nicholson Realty

Spectacular mountain scenery and abundant snowfall make Klamath Falls one of Oregon's great winter sports destinations. There's no better place to strap on a pair of snowshoes and hit the trail, and our real estate agents are eager to share their favorite spots for snowshoeing near Klamath Falls.

  • Klamath Falls Geo Trail - Campus Drive, Klamath Falls, OR 97601
Popular for hiking and running during the warmer months, the Klamath Falls Geo Trail is equally well-suited to snowshoeing and cross-country skiing in winter. The trail is located on the Oregon Institute of Technology campus, just a mile or two from many Klamath Falls homes for sale. It's roughly 1.5 miles long and covers easy, rolling terrain with minimal elevation gain. You likely won't see a lot of other people out on the trail, especially if you snowshoe it on a weekday, but you'll get some great views of the Klamath Basin.

  • Crater Lake National Park - Rim Village Drive, Crater Lake, OR 97604
One of Oregon's most beautiful and iconic landmarks, Crater Lake is a marvel in any season. It also receives an average of 42 feet of snow during an average winter, making guided snowshoe hikes in Crater Lake National Park a spectacular way to explore the area during the colder months. These ranger-led snowshoe walks are offered on weekends and holidays from November to April, departing from either Rim Village or Park Headquarters. The terrain can be strenuous and the route doesn't follow any established trail, making this an exciting adventure for novice and experienced snowshoers alike.

  • Running Y Resort - 5500 Running Y Road, Klamath Falls, OR 97601
A stone's throw from Klamath Lake and ringed by snowy, evergreen-covered mountains, Running Y Resort is perfectly situated for winter sports. Trails that crisscross the resort's grounds are open to guests for snowshoeing, and many more routes are located nearby, including some that are more challenging. One of the best is the Skillet Handle Trail, a 5.2-mile out-and-back route that provides dramatic views of Klamath Lake. The resort also offers charming accommodations, and visitors will see some beautiful homes for sale near Running Y Resort

  • Great Meadow Sno-Park - Falls Highway, Klamath Falls, OR 97601
Located within the Klamath Ranger District of Fremont-Winema National Forest, Great Meadow Sno-Park is a haven for those who seek solitude and adventure in the snowy wilderness. With a landscape that ranges from alpine forests to snowy open meadowlands, the Sno-Park provides a setting for snowshoeing and cross-country skiing on more than 165 miles of groomed trails. Typical winter snow cover is 3 to 5 feet, and views of Mount McLoughlin make it a strikingly beautiful place to play in the snow. Snowmobiles are permitted on some trails, so use caution.

  • Summit Sno-Park - Klamath Falls, OR 97601
Unlike nearby Great Meadow Sno-Park, Summit Snow Park is open exclusively to cross-country skiing and snowshoeing in winter. Snowshoers can have the park's extensive trail system all to themselves without competition from snowmobiles or other vehicles. The centerpiece of Summit Sno-Park is a segment of the Pacific Crest Trail that provides an ideal route for winter snowshoeing through a high-elevation forest of Douglas, grand and white fir trees. Winter trail maps are available at the Klamath and Chiloquin Ranger District headquarters.
