Every true shutterbug knows that winter photography can produce some of the most exceptional shots around. Many of our real estate agents enjoy photography during their off hours, and they've discovered some incredible locations for seasonal shots right here near our Klamath Falls homes for sale. Try visiting some of the following spots to take advantage of these great winter photo opportunities yourself.
- Upper Klamath Wildlife Area – 4009 Hill Road, Tulelake, CA 96134
Upper Klamath Wildlife Area is the perfect place to sneak in a few snaps of local winter wildlife in their natural habitat. Look for mammals like weasels, muskrats, river otters, and stunning birds like snow geese and even the majestic bald eagle. The area's marshy terrain provides an enchanting backdrop for all your shots, and its jaw-dropping mountain views make great alternate subjects if animal activity is low during your visit.
- OC&E Woods Line State Trail - Klamath Falls, OR 97603
More than 100 miles long and built on the remnants of the defunct OC&E Railway, the OC&E Woods Line State Trail is one of the longest rail trails in Oregon. The chunk near Klamath Falls is at the start of the line and offers excellent views of Mount Shasta and nearby cliffs. Look for the old-fashioned signposts and antique boxcars scattered along the path—they make great subjects for intriguing outdoor shots.
- Black Crater Trail – 1 Indian Well, Tulelake, CA 96134
Black Crater Trail is a short 0.5-mile path located within the rocky terrain of the Lava Beds National Monument, an old volcanic field near our Tulelake homes for sale. The craggy dark stone formations and sparse plant life here look particularly striking when the snow falls, and the smaller winter crowds make it easier to get shots of the spatter cone for which the trail is named. The full path takes less than 15 minutes to walk, making it a great choice for photographers short on time.
- Moore Park - 740 Lakeshore Drive, Klamath Falls, OR 97601
Moore Park is a massive 450-acre green space on the edge of downtown Klamath Falls. The park features several easy hiking trails, most on level ground and surrounded by tall, well-spaced evergreens that look great in wide-angle photos. There are also several open areas and a stretch of land overlooking Klamath Lake, where you can snap incredible shots of the water. These spots are often busy, though, so make sure you clear the area of bystanders first or get consent from anyone who will appear in your photos.
- Link River Trail - 100 Mill St., Klamath Falls, OR 97601
Link River Trail takes you along the (you guessed it) Link River that runs parallel to Klamath Falls. Following the path down a small stone canyon, you'll have the perfect vantage point to get shots of the running water and all the small animals and waterfowl living around it. Walking to the end will net you a beautiful view of Link River Falls and Lake Ewauna, a shimmering expanse striking enough to take center stage in any photography project.
