Encompassing 12,000 square miles around the tumbling waters of the Klamath River, the Klamath Basin is one of Oregon's most ruggedly beautiful regions. Springtime is the perfect season for outdoor adventures in the Klamath Basin, especially for visitors who wish to see the area's many waterfalls at peak flow.

Where to See Waterfalls in the Klamath Basin

Klamath County and the surrounding areas offer some of Southern Oregon's most picturesque waterfalls. These are some of our real estate agents' favorite places to see stunning waterfalls in the Klamath Basin.

Vidae Falls - Crater Lake, OR

Address: East Rim Drive, Crater Lake National Park, Crater Lake, OR 97604

The most famous waterfall in Crater Lake National Park, the beautiful Vidae Falls tumbles down a 100-foot rocky slope along Vidae Creek. Less than an hour from Chiloquin and just 3 miles east of Park Headquarters, Vidae Falls is among the most easily accessible falls in the Crater Lake area. Visible from the road or from the provided turn-out, this spring-fed waterfall doesn't require any hiking to reach, but anyone looking to get their steps in can do so on the nearby Crater Peak Trail, which starts at the trailhead near the Vidae Falls Picnic Area.

Watson Falls - Idleyld Park, OR

Address: North Umpqua Highway, Idleyld Park, OR 97447

Located along Watson Creek, a tributary of the Clearwater River in Umpqua National Forest, Watson Falls is a truly beautiful waterfall that spills over the lip of a rocky precipice into a lush gorge. At 272 feet, it's the third-tallest waterfall in Oregon and the tallest in Southern Oregon. Starting at the Watson Falls Trailhead just off the N. Umpqua Highway, the hike to the falls is just under a mile round-trip, but hikers can expect some steep sections as well as incredible scenery, including a wooden bridge below the falls.

Butte Falls - Butte Falls, OR

Address: Falls Road, Butte Falls, OR 97522

A charming waterfall easily accessible via a short hike, Butte Falls is located just outside the small town that shares its name. Although it is just 15 feet tall, this broad waterfall, composed of multiple rivulets, offers ample scenic beauty. One feature that makes Butte Falls unique is that it is runnable by a whitewater kayak on its right side. The waterfall is about 30 miles northwest of Klamath Lake, making it an easy day trip from these Klamath Falls homes for sale

Toketee Falls - Idleyld Park, OR

Address: Toketee Falls Trailhead, North Umpqua Highway, Idleyld Park, OR 97447

The two-tiered Toketee Falls is one of Oregon's most well-known waterfalls. A truly stunning cascade on the North Umpqua River, Toketee Falls plummets 120 feet, framed on either side by unique hexagonal columnar basalt rock formations. To see the falls, follow the trail westward from the Toketee Falls Trailhead, just off the N. Umpqua Highway. The trek is a moderately challenging 0.8-mile out-and-back through dense woodlands.

Mill and Barr Creek Falls - Prospect, OR

Address: Mill Creek Falls Trailhead, Mill Creek Drive, Prospect, OR 97536

Dropping 173 feet and 242 feet, respectively, Mill Creek Falls and Barr Creek Falls are neighboring cascades that each add their tumultuous spring runoff to the mighty Rogue River. Both waterfalls can be viewed along the same 1.5-mile out-and-back hiking trail, which departs from the Mill and Barr Creek Falls Trailhead on Mill Creek Drive. This easy trail has minimal elevation gain, making this one of the best bang-for-your-buck waterfall hikes in Southern Oregon.
