Storing Seasonal Decor - Fisher Nicholson Realty

The holidays may be over, but you probably still have decorations to put away. Our real estate agents suggest taking a little time to organize seasonal decor as you put it away. You'll be glad you did when you're more easily able to find everything you need for a festive holiday season next year.

  1. Organize Your Decorations
When you take down your tree and other holiday décor, organize the items by group. If you organize your decorations by where you use them, it will be much easier to find them next year. It will also prevent them from being damaged or broken if you pack them right. If you don't have the original box for your tree, you might consider buying a tree bag on wheels. It will make it easier to move, and you won't have to worry about losing any pieces. If you have a real tree, make sure to recycle it once you take it down.

New Home, New Year - Fisher Nicholson Realty

You know the best thing about 2021? That it's almost over! Well, to be fair, you did get a new house! So between those two things, there is a lot to celebrate. And our real estate agents have a few suggestions about how to ring out the old year and welcome in the new.

  • Bring the club home
If you miss the glitz and excitement of dancing at a nightclub, then you can re-create the atmosphere with music and lighting in your new home. Arrange the furniture to allow room for dancing, and be sure there are plenty of hors d'oeuvres. Imagine your guests arriving in sparkling gowns and tuxedoes, or, if you prefer, in boots, jeans, and cowboy hats. Once you determine the theme of your party, share it with your guests in detailed invitations.

Recycling Opportunities for Homeowners - Fisher Nicholson Realty

While it's no secret that people in the Pacific Northwest are proud of their efforts to save the planet, not everyone is aware of how those efforts can be put into practice. Recycling is critical to successful environmental programs, and our real estate agents want buyers who are considering Klamath Falls homes for sale to know the options available to them.

  • Curbside Collection
Weekly mixed recyclable collection is offered by the City of Klamath Falls for paper, cardboard, plastic bottles and jugs, metal cans, including aerosol and scrap metal. Waste Management provides 35-, 64- and 96-gallon rollcarts to be filled up and left curbside for scheduled collection. The service can be weekly, monthly or on-call. While not recyclable, the city also provides a collection service for yard debris within size and weight restrictions. Complete recycling guidelines can be found in a handy brochure.

Fireplace Maintenance Tips - Fisher Nicholson Realty

It's your first fall in your new home, and what better way to celebrate that autumn spirit than with a nice fire in the fireplace? But don't start piling logs on just yet. Before you go lighting that first fall fire, it's important to check your chimney and make sure it's in good working order. How do you check it? How do you know if it's OK? What are you looking for? Our real estate agents share what you need to know.

Visual Inspection

The first step in checking your chimney is fairly simple: Shine a flashlight upward into your chimney, so you can see its condition. Are there any loose bricks in the chimney? Get them repaired before lighting a fire.

Next, do you see any white streaks on the walls of the chimney? Don't operate your fireplace until they're cleaned. Those white streaks are called creosote. It's a pesticide used to preserve wood from things like termites, fungus, and other pests. If your fireplace wood has been treated with creosote, it can build up in your chimney over time the more you use it.

Get Your Yard Trick-or-Treat Ready - Fisher Nicholson Realty

With cooler weather, spice, pumpkins, and everything scary popping up in stores, Halloween is just around the corner. It's always fun to see the excitement little ones show when they don fun costumes, knock on your door, and yell trick or treat! However, this fun-filled night can turn into a disaster if your home isn't prepared for visitors. To prevent accidents or injuries, it's important to prepare your front yard and porch for the arrival of any neighborhood witches, ghosts, princesses, or superheroes. Here are a few helpful tips from our real estate agents to help ensure that trick-or-treaters have a safe, enjoyable, and spooky night.

  • Add Safe and Festive Lighting
Signal trick-or-treaters that you're open for business by ensuring your porch light is on. A few glow sticks, LED lights, battery-powered candles, or lanterns can help illuminate your yard and direct traffic to the candy. Brighten up the path to your door by laying down rope lighting, turning on floodlights, or putting up walkway lights.
