Budgeting for Renovations - Fisher Nicholson Realty

As you're looking at Klamath Falls homes for sale, you may decide to eschew a new, perfect house in favor of an older one you can fix up yourself. Not only is it a great way to save money, but it's also a great way to make your home exactly the way you want it. Unfortunately, it's also a great way to spend an obscene amount on renovations. Here are some ways you can keep those costs in check when fixing up your new home.

  • Budgeting. It's important to go in with a plan. Map out what renovations you want to do, how much you can expect them to cost, and how much you're willing to spend. Set a budget not just for the project as a whole but for each room. For instance, the kitchen is, on average, about 15% of your home's value. So the budget for kitchen renovations shouldn't exceed 15% of what you paid for the house. Breaking costs down this way will help you stay on budget.

Home Improvement Trends for 2022 - Fisher Nicholson Realty

While many homeowners are selling their homes to take advantage of the current market, others are investing in their homes to make them more comfortable now and more valuable down the road. If you asked our real estate agents what top few trends they've noticed in recent months, these would be on their lists.

  1. Well-designed home offices
With more and more of us working from home, few of us are happy with a spare bedroom doing double duty as an office. We don't want the backdrop of our online meetings to have beds in the background or a houseguest's luggage in the corner. We certainly don't want to have to ask our company to leave the room to take business calls. Dedicated office space will have different needs based on profession, but some items will be common to most. Highspeed internet will probably be first on the list, but from that point, personalization could mean generous drawing space with plenty of natural light for an architect or whiteboards and storage space for an elementary school teacher. Versatility is the key to a home office bringing added value to the home.

Storing Seasonal Decor - Fisher Nicholson Realty

The holidays may be over, but you probably still have decorations to put away. Our real estate agents suggest taking a little time to organize seasonal decor as you put it away. You'll be glad you did when you're more easily able to find everything you need for a festive holiday season next year.

  1. Organize Your Decorations
When you take down your tree and other holiday décor, organize the items by group. If you organize your decorations by where you use them, it will be much easier to find them next year. It will also prevent them from being damaged or broken if you pack them right. If you don't have the original box for your tree, you might consider buying a tree bag on wheels. It will make it easier to move, and you won't have to worry about losing any pieces. If you have a real tree, make sure to recycle it once you take it down.

New Home, New Year - Fisher Nicholson Realty

You know the best thing about 2021? That it's almost over! Well, to be fair, you did get a new house! So between those two things, there is a lot to celebrate. And our real estate agents have a few suggestions about how to ring out the old year and welcome in the new.

  • Bring the club home
If you miss the glitz and excitement of dancing at a nightclub, then you can re-create the atmosphere with music and lighting in your new home. Arrange the furniture to allow room for dancing, and be sure there are plenty of hors d'oeuvres. Imagine your guests arriving in sparkling gowns and tuxedoes, or, if you prefer, in boots, jeans, and cowboy hats. Once you determine the theme of your party, share it with your guests in detailed invitations.

Recycling Opportunities for Homeowners - Fisher Nicholson Realty

While it's no secret that people in the Pacific Northwest are proud of their efforts to save the planet, not everyone is aware of how those efforts can be put into practice. Recycling is critical to successful environmental programs, and our real estate agents want buyers who are considering Klamath Falls homes for sale to know the options available to them.

  • Curbside Collection
Weekly mixed recyclable collection is offered by the City of Klamath Falls for paper, cardboard, plastic bottles and jugs, metal cans, including aerosol and scrap metal. Waste Management provides 35-, 64- and 96-gallon rollcarts to be filled up and left curbside for scheduled collection. The service can be weekly, monthly or on-call. While not recyclable, the city also provides a collection service for yard debris within size and weight restrictions. Complete recycling guidelines can be found in a handy brochure.
